The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an important economic cooperation platform in the Asia-Pacific region. According to Chinese customs statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, China’s imports and exports with other APEC economies reached 21.27 trillion yuan, a record high for the same period in history, accounting for 59.1% of China’s total imports and exports in the same period.
In the first 10 months, China’s imports and exports to other APEC economies increased by 5.7% year-on-year, 0.5 percentage points higher than Chinese overall growth rate during the same period. Among them, imports and exports to Vietnam, Peru, Malaysia, Mexico, etc. increased by 17.4%, 16.8%, 12.1%, and 11.7% respectively; imports and exports to Hong Kong and Taiwan increased by 11.3% and 11% respectively; imports and exports to South Korea, Thailand, Canada, Brunei, etc. grew faster than Chinese overall growth rate. In addition, imports and exports to the United States, Russia, Singapore, etc. continued to grow.
Chinese complete industrial system helps other APEC economies to produce better and their people to live better. In the first 10 months, my country exported 5.56 trillion yuan of intermediate products to other APEC economies, an increase of 8.4%, accounting for 45.4% of China’s total exports to other APEC economies during the same period. Among them, the export of intermediate products such as electronic components, auto parts, parts and accessories of automatic data processing equipment, and flat panel display modules increased by 17.3%, 8%, 24.8%, and 24% respectively. During the same period, my country exported a large number of consumer goods to other APEC economies, such as 906.88 billion yuan of textiles and clothing, an increase of 3.9%; 92.87 billion yuan of vegetables and fruits, an increase of 10.6%; 181.85 billion yuan of furniture and televisions, an increase of 8.9%; and 212.35 billion yuan of passenger cars, an increase of 21.6%.
Chinese high-quality development provides a broader market and more opportunities for other APEC economies. In the first 10 months, my country imported 7.23 trillion yuan of intermediate products from other APEC economies, up 3.5%, accounting for 80.2% of the total imports from other APEC economies. Among them, electromechanical intermediate products were 2.88 trillion yuan, up 9.6%; energy products were 1.15 trillion yuan, up 6.6%; and metal ore was 945.1 billion yuan, up 6.4%.
