On January 21, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) held a press conference to officially announce the latest development achievements of my country's humanoid robot industry, clearly defining 2025 as the first year of mass production. Data shows that by 2025, the number of domestic robot manufacturers exceeded 140, with over 330 products released. Driven by technological innovation, policy support, and application scenarios, humanoid robots have moved beyond the stage of mere demonstrations and are now entering home service and factory production scenarios on a large scale, opening a new chapter in industrial development.

At the press conference, the MIIT stated that my country's humanoid robots have successfully achieved breakthroughs in basic capabilities such as "standing firmly, walking steadily, and running quickly," and are rapidly upgrading towards embodied intelligent agents with autonomous decision-making capabilities. Currently, innovation centers for embodied intelligence and humanoid robots have been established in the two core cities of Beijing and Shanghai. The independently developed open-source public version models "Qinglong" and "Tiangong," as well as the "Kaiwu" operating system, have been officially launched, successfully breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign countries on the underlying technology architecture and laying a solid foundation for the independent development of the entire industry.
Breakthroughs have been achieved in core technology areas, with key components such as large models and integrated joints achieving domestic substitution. The QDD quasi-direct drive joint in the Zhiyuan Robotics Qiyuan Q1, only the size of an egg, delivers powerful output; the Unitree H2 robot from Unitree Robotics can perform complex movements such as flying kicks and somersaults, demonstrating excellent motion control capabilities. Meanwhile, core components such as planetary roller screws have achieved independent production, effectively driving a significant reduction in overall machine costs. UBTECH's Walker series robots, for example, saw a 25% cost reduction compared to 2024, creating conditions for mass production and widespread adoption.
2025 marks a key milestone in the industrialization of humanoid robots. Data from the Gaogong Robotics Industry Research Institute shows that the industry's shipments reached 18,000 units throughout the year, a surge of over 650% year-on-year. Leading companies have expanded their production capacity, continuously improving their large-scale production capabilities. Consumer-grade products have reached a price inflection point; the Unitree R1 from Unitree Robotics starts at only 29,900 yuan, and the Songyan Power Bumi robot has a pre-sale price of less than 10,000 yuan, making humanoid robots accessible to ordinary consumers.
Application scenarios continue to expand, and the pace of industrialization is accelerating. In the industrial sector, UBTECH's Walker S2 has been deployed in automotive manufacturing and electronics assembly lines, efficiently completing tasks such as parts handling and precision assembly. In the home environment, Dreame and Roborock's embodied intelligent cleaning robots achieve three-dimensional, all-area cleaning and proactive service. In the public service sector, patrol and inspection robots are being used in parks, exhibition halls, and other locations; ZQGame alone has received over 3,000 intended orders for this type of product, demonstrating continued market demand.
Looking to the future, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has identified three major development directions: In terms of technology, a "challenge-based" mechanism will be launched to focus on breakthroughs in core technologies such as large-scale models and integrated joints; in terms of security, product quality and data security testing systems will be strengthened to ensure application security; and in terms of ecosystem, the National Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund will be used to build an open-source community and improve industry standards.
Industry experts predict that by 2025, my country's humanoid robot industry will have completed the leap from "0-1" to "1-10," and by 2026, it will reach the critical inflection point of "10-100," with the core theme of the industry shifting towards mass production and accelerated commercialization. As a core carrier of embodied intelligence, the humanoid robot market has the potential to rival that of smartphones and new energy vehicles, and is expected to grow into a trillion-yuan emerging industry, becoming a significant force driving the upgrading of my country's manufacturing industry and innovation in science and technology.
