The basic principle of the pressure swing adsorption nitrogen generator is to use the adsorbent to have different adsorption capacities for the adsorbate at different pressures, and to selectively adsorb the components of the separated gas mixture under a certain pressure. Under the conditions of selective adsorption by the adsorbent, the impurity group in the raw gas is removed by pressure adsorption, and the impurities are removed under reduced pressure to regenerate the adsorbent. That is to say: due to the different diffusion rates of oxygen and nitrogen in the pores of the molecular sieve adsorbent, a large amount of oxygen molecules are adsorbed by the carbon molecular sieve in a short period of time, and nitrogen molecules are enriched in the gas phase to achieve oxygen and nitrogen separation. Therefore, the purpose of continuously separating the gas mixture can be achieved by using multiple adsorbers and alternating cycles. Because the adsorption and desorption processes are achieved through pressure changes, this process is called pressure swing adsorption (PSA).

Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) method separates and purifies nitrogen in air at room temperature. That is, the selected carbon molecular sieve is used to preferentially adsorb all components except N2 under a certain adsorption operating pressure, and the user's required oxygen content is obtained at the outlet end of the adsorber. When the pressure of the adsorber is reduced, these adsorbed components are desorbed, and the carbon molecular sieve is regenerated. Therefore, a certain number of adsorbers are selected and switched in turn according to a certain program. Changing the pressure of the adsorber in a certain order constitutes a PSA unit that continuously separates the gas mixture.
