Sveba Dahlen is a baking equipment brand affiliated to Sveba Dahlen AB. The company was founded in Boras, Sweden in 1948. The company produces and sells professional baking equipment such as rotary ovens, layer ovens, proofing boxes and tunnel ovens. It also has large-scale industrial equipment such as the Glimek bread production line, including block and kneading machines, intermediate proofing boxes, forming machines and various related auxiliary equipment, such as dough mixers, elevators, etc.
As early as 1948, Sveba Dahlen was founded through two different family businesses: Borås Elmekano, founded by Johan Adolf Eliasson, and Elektro Dahlén, founded by Karl-Edvard Dahlen. Both companies are based in Borås, Sweden, and both have started producing ovens in very crude conditions.
Both competing companies have developed high-quality products that in their respective ways promote the development of commercial baking production processes. The entrepreneurial spirit and development level were high, and technological solutions promoted the company's positive development in the following decades.
In 1962, Borås Elmekano was converted to AB Svenska Bakugsfabriken, SVEBA. Currently, Kenneth Eliasson, grandson of company founder Johan Adolf Eliasson, is running the company. In 1991, SVEBA acquired Elektro Dahlén Company and established SVEBA - dahlen AB.
In 1994, Sveba-Dahlen AB established a joint venture company in Hong Kong:SDA Co. Ltd. In 1998, the next company to be acquired was Glimek in Glimåkra, Sweden. Glimek is known in the market for its bread production line. The company thrived, expanding its product range and becoming a turnkey supplier of baking machines, and in 2000 the company acquired Danish company Wodschow a /S, now known as Varimixer a /S. Through this acquisition, Sveba Dahlen Group AB was established in 2001.
In 2002, subsidiaries were established in Estonia, and in 2006, subsidiaries were established in Russia and Spain. In 2011, the former family business was sold to Litorina, a Stockholm-based private equity firm. In 2017, Sveba Dahlen acquired part stakes in Danish company Bago-Line and Norway company Horni.
2017 was also the year Sveba Dahlen was acquired by the American company the Middleby Corporation, whose business strategy is to achieve growth by acquiring companies in the commercial cooking and industrial baking industries. The company is registered on NASDAQ and has annual revenue of $3 billion.
