The company boasts a high-level R&D team led by several PhDs from prestigious universities and holds over 90 national patents. It serves as the supporting unit for the Liaoning Province Magnetic Levitation Technology Application Engineering Research Center and has undertaken numerous major research projects in Liaoning Province and Shenzhen City. Additionally, the company has participated in the formulation of multiple industry standards and technical regulations.

• 2003: VYCON Energy Inc. was established in Los Angeles, USA.
• 2005: VYCON's first flywheel system was deployed at SunGard Data Center. To date, nearly 4,000 units have been installed globally, with more than 18 years of stable operation.
• 2018: Shenyang Vycon New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was officially registered, completing the full acquisition of VYCON in the USA. The company established China’s only production line for magnetic levitation flywheel energy storage at the Sino-German (Shenyang) High-end Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.
• 2020: The company's flywheel energy storage system achieved the first-ever connection to a 35kV power grid in China. The Vycon New Energy Joint Innovation Center of the Liaoning Institute of Industrial Technology was approved. VYCON’s manufacturing operations were transferred to Shenyang Vycon. With globally leading flywheel energy storage technology, the company became the only one in China producing flywheels at scale.
• 2021: The company completed the first flywheel energy storage application for inertia support and primary frequency regulation in a wind power storage system in China. It was listed in the 2021 Major Technical Equipment Catalog by the National Energy Administration, with its "Megawatt Flywheel Energy Storage System for Inertia and Frequency Support in New Energy Power Stations" being the only technology selected in the inertia and frequency regulation field.
• 2022: The company received investment from the Heilongjiang Jiaorun Technology Development Fund. It exclusively co-authored the standard atlas for flywheel energy storage selection and installation with the China Academy of Building Research. It also led the drafting of the "Flywheel Energy Storage System Grid Connection Test Specification" (T/CES096-2022) and "Flywheel Energy Storage Power Station Design Specification" (T/CEC5069-2022). The company was recognized as a "Potential Unicorn Enterprise" by Liaoning Province.
• 2023: The company secured a project under Yunnan Province’s 2023 Industrial Technology Plan and a national key R&D project under the "Energy Storage and Smart Grid Technology" initiative. It topped the innovation rankings for flywheel energy storage companies and was recognized as a "Unicorn Enterprise" in Liaoning Province. On December 26th, the company officially changed its name to "Shenyang Vycon Flywheel Co., Ltd."
